What is the Bishop Kearney Alumni Association (BKAA)?
Shortly after rescuing Bishop Kearney from a bankruptcy filing by the Christian Brothers of Ireland in 2014, Paychex founder and philanthropist Tom Golisano asked the newly appointed President of the school, Steve Salluzzo, “Where are the alumni?”
Golisano knew that many successful Catholic secondary schools around the country had active Alumni Associations. Although BK began engaging alumni from the start of Steve’s tenure, in 2021 a council of graduates from nine different classes spanning 1966 to 2017 developed an action plan to re-establish an official alumni association.
Why should graduates support BK? To start, we are its legacy. Year after year, BK has turned out outstanding citizens and leaders for the local community and our country, and now with international outreach. BK alumni carry forth the values we treasured from our momentous time at BK. We hope to continue that legacy for future generations of BK students, as well as to keep BK alumni connected to each other and the school.
Much outreach to you and other alumni is in planning.
We’ll be looking for more volunteers and contacts for each class in the months to come. Stay tuned for more information coming soon. We look forward to your ideas and input! If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact Jenn Hansen ‘05 at jhansen@BKHS.org.
